Enlarged Heart

Enlarged Heart : The heart can become enlarged and damaged by excessive, over-vigorous pumping. This can be caused by anemia, in which there are too few red blood cells in the blood, leading to a deficit in the oxygen supplied to the body's tissues and organs; the heart tries to compensate by pumping harder. Hypertension (high blood pressure) also makes the heart work harder to circulate blood throughout the body, which can lead to an enlarged heart.

Cardiomegaly is a medical condition wherein the heart is enlarged.
